Iron On Patch Guide

Ironing on patches can be a fun and easy way to add personality and style to your clothes, bags, and accessories. Whether you’re a fan of embroidered, chenille, PVC, sublimated, leather, applique, or TPU patches, there are different methods to make them stick securely and last longer. In this blog, we’ll guide you through the steps on how to iron on different types of patches, including the recommended temperature, duration, and pressure.

Embroidered Patches:

  • Place the patch onto the desired area of the garment.
  • Cover the patch with a thin cloth or towel.
  • Set your iron to a high temperature and press it onto the patch for 30-60 seconds.
  • Flip the garment inside out and repeat the process on the back side.
  • Allow the patch and garment to cool down before checking the adhesion.

Chenille Patches:

  • Follow the same steps as for embroidered patches, but use a lower iron temperature (around 275°F).
  • Press the iron onto the patch for 20-30 seconds, then flip the garment inside out and repeat the process on the back side.
  • Check the adhesion, if it’s not enough, repeat for another 10-15 seconds.

PVC Patches:

  • Place the patch onto the garment.
  • Cover with a thin cloth or towel and press with a hot iron (around 320°F) for 10-15 seconds.
  • Wait for the patch to cool before checking the adhesion.

Sublimated Patches:

  • Place the patch onto the garment.
  • Cover with a thin cloth or towel and press with a hot iron (around 375°F) for 30-60 seconds.
  • Allow the patch and garment to cool before checking the adhesion.

Leather Patches:

  • Place the patch onto the garment.
  • Cover with a thin cloth or towel and press with a warm iron (around 250°F) for 15-20 seconds.
  • Check the adhesion and repeat if necessary.

Applique Patches:

  • Place the patch onto the garment.
  • Cover with a thin cloth or towel and press with a hot iron (around 375°F) for 30-60 seconds.
  • Allow the patch and garment to cool before checking the adhesion.

TPU Patches:

  • Place the patch onto the garment.
  • Cover with a thin cloth or towel and press with a hot iron (around 320°F) for 15-20 seconds.
  • Wait for the patch to cool before checking the adhesion.

Remember to always check the care instructions for your garment and patch before ironing on. If in doubt, it’s always best to seek the advice of a professional. Happy ironing!
